Use of Transvaginal Ultrasound in Obstetrics

Objectives

This lecture will introduce the participant to the main uses of transvaginal ultrasound in obstetrics.  These include first trimester uses (evaluation of vaginal bleeding, fetal loss, ectopic pregnancy, and early evaluation of fetal anatomy), evaluation of the cervix uteri, diagnosis of placenta previa, and evaluation of fetal parts not readily accessible by transabdominal ultrasound.
