Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
Discuss the pathophysiology of perinatal complications seen in pregnancy complicated by diabetes mellitus, especially as they relate to maternal glycemic regulation.
Explain the need for preconception counseling and the role of maternal hyperglycemia in the etiology of malformations
Describe the techniques available for control of maternal diabetes during the antepartum period and the current techniques used for the assessment of fetal well being.
