Health Care in and from Third World Countries

Objectives

At the end of the presentation the participant should

• Have an awareness of immigration and demographic issues in our "global village"

• Be more aware of some major illnesses and American physician may encounter in caring for immigrants fro the developing (third) world.

• Be aware of some major health issues that confront the developing world (accent on Africa)

• Become aware of the dramatic effects on the health scene by relatively simple health promoting projects

• Realize the world's major health issues (in numbers of victims) will be addressed and mastered primarily by promotive and preventive measures and not curative measures

• Have some ideas how an American physician can contribute to the health care effort in the developing world.
